Kim Masters to join Min at The Hollywood Reporter *

kim-masters-mug.jpgThe first press release has come in from Janice Min's new Hollywood Reporter. Veteran Hollywood journalist Kim Masters is editorial director Min's first hire, to be editor-at-large. Masters currently writes for the Daily Beast and will remain as host of The Business on Monday afternoons on KCRW. Masters, who covered the TV up-fronts for THR last week, tells IndieWire's Anne Thompson that she got a mandate from Min to “do what I do best...everything from breaking news to features.” THR editor Elizabeth Guider had been pursuing Masters for months, and she received a six-figure salary, Thompson says:

Hiring Masters sends a counter-message to ex-Weekly editor-in-chief Min’s own hiring by e5 Global Media. Min is bringing in an established entertainment journalist who is respected—even feared—for her ability to do objective, investigative, analytic journalism as well as swift news reporting. Moving fast, Min is expected to transition the THR print edition to a weekly by summer’s end, moving the daily online.

Release is after the jump.
