Abby had privacy & slept a lot, says Osiris captain

osiris-captain.jpgWhile Abby Sunderland was on his boat chugging toward Reunion for more than a week, says Jacques Deshayes, the 16-year-old had her own cabin and access to a phone and mailbox. She sat up on the bridge sometimes, but she also slept a lot and after dinner would return to her room and they wouldn't see her again until 8 in the morning. Asked what surprised him the most, Deshayes said "sa jeunesse" — her youth. He also said the seas were rough and speculated that if she hadn't been rescued quickly things could have gone very wrong.

Media circus: Sunderland was greeted by 40 media at the Reunion port and left in the company of an American televison crew, says a Reunion news site. Here's French video of her arrival and press conference, and AP's video below:

Care package: Brother Zac Sunderland brought Abby a backpack filled with clothes, makeup, a hairbrush and an iPod, says People. She is due back in Los Angeles Monday night and will hold a press conference in Marina del Rey on Tuesday.
