Villaraigosa

The couple that blogs for HuffPost together...

mayorlakers-fox11.JPGThe Huffington Post loves Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, or at least loves his press releases. They run verbatim under his name on the site's Los Angeles page 13 this month alone — and though they are played as blog posts, only the clueless would think the mayor is actually blogging his "news." No other L.A. official or political player comes close to the free ride Villaraigosa gets on the Huffington Post's Los Angeles page, and I couldn't help but notice that girlfriend Lu Parker occasionally "blogs" there now too. On my RSS feed today, a cute coincidence at least: Villaraigosa's post about the rebuilt Universal Studios backlot came in at the same time — 12:29 p.m. — as Parker's post about her story on last night's KTLA news about puppy mills. I haven't seen any other local TV reporter promote her stories on the Huffington Post; here's how Parker led off:

For several weeks I've been working on an investigative story focused on puppy mills. What I discovered was appalling and sad. My exclusive story for KTLA revealed sick dogs, and dogs living in cages just large enough to turn around in. While the video is disturbing to watch, the information could save thousands of animals.

As we've noted before, Parker is an animal person above all else. Her HuffPo bio, by the way, labels her as "journalist, actress, author, former Miss USA, and a former teacher."
