Whoa, what got into Jim Rainey? The L.A. Times' media writer not known for his bite channeled his inner Howard Rosenberg in a piece today saying KNBC News has "devolved from cheese to cheesier to, perhaps, cheesiest of them all." He blasts Channel 4 for turning to the celebrity angle on too many stories — even using one of the stars of "Real Housewives of Orange County" as a reporter on a story. Rainey also calls out KNBC and new boss Steve Lange for doing way more than its share of fluff pieces on products belonging to NBC-Universal. Good column, and he didn't even rip the Channel 4 website, which has become almost useless as a news site. While we're piling on, tonight's anchor on KNBC, newcomer Andy Rosa Adler, sounded as if she had never heard of the Doo-Dah Parade (and she's from SoCal.)
