  • The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department unveiled a newly redesigned, more newsy and informative website at LASD.org.
  • The City Council's budget committee forwarded a budget that calls for 1,000 more job cuts than the 761 included in Mayor Villaraigosa's proposed budget, based on a recommendation by Chief Legislative Analyst Gerry Miller. LAT, DN
  • The council is expected today to consider whether it really does want to officially boycott Arizona, and how. LAT, AP
  • United States Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that it has made major changes to the green card — starting with its color. KPCC News
  • A Metro pedestrian symposium will talk about ways to make Los Angeles more walkable.
  • The Jewish Journal has received $800,000 in donations from four local philanthropists and "by banking hard on two of the most robust growth trends in 21st century media — niche journalism and philanthropy — the Jewish Journal appears to have extended its life expectancy and expanded its coverage of Jewish life in Southern California," says James Rainey.   • The Autry National Center said it acquired the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Archive, materials from the performing couple's entertainment careers.
  • Jacob Soboroff observes on Twitter that the New York Times and Los Angeles Times ran the same AFP/Getty Images photograph of British leader David Cameron and his wife Samantha, "but LAT cropped out her pregnant belly!" Twitter
