Father Gregory Boyle, the founder of Homeboy Industries, said the anti-gang organization on Thursday laid off 300 people, including all senior administrators, as its financial situation worsened. Boyle has stopped taking a salary, and the Homeboy silk-screening factory, landscaping company and other businesses will shut down. The Homegirl Cafe, which employs 100 people near downtown, will stay open.
