Art Linkletter, who died today at home in Bel-Air, was a ubiquitous presence on radio and television from the 1940s through the 1960s, and a voice and emcee at Los Angeles events for long after. He spoke a few years ago at a Los Angeles Conservancy event dedicated to his late neighbor, the architect Welton Becket, and sounded in his 90s as he always had — fresh and relentlessly optimistic. His famous on-air shows were "People Are Funny" and "Art Linkletter's House Party," and among his best-selling books was "Kids Say The Darndest Things," an absurdly popular collection of sayings by children. Linkletter is survived by his wife Lois (they married in 1935) and two children. NYT, AP
And there's this: KPCC host Alex Cohen, managing editor Nick Roman and producer Sharon McNary all were guests on one Linkletter show or another.
