Obama hits town Monday, so plan accordingly

obama-flag.jpgbboxer.jpgPresident Obama will arrive a little before 5:30 p.m. Monday to raise L.A. campaign cash for the Democrats — Sen. Barbara Boxer and the DNC specifically — and wreak a little unfortunate havoc with local mobility. At least it will be a Monday, so the natural afternoon traffic should be a bit lighter than usual — but there's a Kings playoff game at Staples Center at 7 p.m. Luckily, it appears Obama will chopper from LAX to Exposition Park, so the freeways won't have to shut down. (Unless they still run a media-and-aides motorcade when the president flies? I don't know.) The main events are a 4:30 p.m. reception at the California Science Center followed by a more exclusive dinner at the Natural History Museum. Tickets are $250-$2,500 for the reception, and $35,200 per couple for the dinner with the president. Obama, scheduled to return to Washington Tuesday morning, was last here in May, 2009 for that big Hollywood-targeted fundraiser starring Jennifer Hudson.
