The press release from City Controller Wendy Greuel says the audit is intended to "determine if DWP had the necessary funds to complete the anticipated Power Revenue Transfer to the City’s Reserve Fund. 'I want to take the politics out of this process and provide an independent review of the DWP’s finances...'" she said. Nope, no politics here. Meanwhile, legislative analyst Gerry Miler said today that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa does not have the power to shut down city departments two days a week, Council President Eric Garcetti on KPCC sounded hopeful that the DWP would transfer the $73 million earlier budgeted, and Villaraigosa continued his media swing insisting that "there’s no scenario where we don’t have to trim our services and the cost of our payroll."
