  • Sen. Dianne Feinstein says the Democrats are going to have to choose a candidate for governor without her. Sacto Bee, SF Chronicle
  • While not saying he's running, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is putting together a campaign team for a possible run for lieutenant governor. SF Chronicle
  • Councilwoman and candidate Janice Hahn's ties to Gambol Industries in the port through PR executive Gwen Butterfield. Ron Kaye
  • As expected, former Speaker Karen Bass will announce at 10 a.m. she is running for Congress with the backing of incumbent Diane Watson. LAT
  • Los Angeles voters will be asked in June to approve a temporary $100-per-parcel annual tax for the LAUSD. LAT, DN
  • Councilman Paul Krekorian has started a blog for staffers to get out the office take on meetings and policy issues. LAist
  • The Board of Supervisors approved a development agreement and funding for the park to run from the Music Center to City Hall, the only piece of the multibillion-dollar Grand Avenue project that is not stalled. LAT
  • Late-night lane and ramp closures are starting up again on the 405 Freeway between the 10 and 101 so that Caltrans crews can place concrete barriers on the right shoulders. Metro

  • The U.S. trustee's office asked a bankruptcy judge to appoint an examiner to investigate charges that Sam Zell's 2007 leveraged buyout of Tribune was improper. Chi Tribune
  • Business reporter Zachery Kouwe resigned from the New York Times, saying his copying of material from other newspapers was "stupid." NY Observer
