Speaking of UCLA, I recently learned what former KNBC anchor Tritia Toyota is doing since she retired from television in 1999. She is an adjunct assistant professor of anthropology and Asian American studies. Her new book is "Envisioning America: new Chinese Americans and the Politics of Belonging,” inspired by her reporting on Lily Chen and the rise of Chinese political power in Monterey Park. Toyota got a journalism master's degree at UCLA in 1970, when there was a journalism program in Westwood.
