MTA goes ahead with Crenshaw rail line

mtaroutegrab.jpgThe 8½-mile light-rail line would run from the Expo Line at Exposition Boulevard to the Green Line at Imperial Highway in El Segundo. The route chosen today follows Crenshaw Boulevard south, then from Hyde Park veers southwest through Inglewood to Aviation Boulevard. The cost is pegged at $1.7 billion, more if political pressure forces more of the project below ground. Groundbreaking might come in 2012 or 13, with a possible opening in 2018.
