Johnny Hallyday in induced coma here

hallydayinblack.jpgFrench rock icon Johnny Hallyday, called by many the French Elvis, has been placed in a medically induced coma to assist his recovery from back surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Think that's a story in France? The surgeon who performed an earlier, possibly botched surgery on Hallyday there was attacked and beaten in Paris on Friday. Hallyday, 66 and a part-time resident of Los Angeles, has reportedly sold more than 100 million records. He announced his retirement from performing in 2007, saying he did not "want to become pathetic." AP via NYT, Telegraph.UK

Just because: Enjoy a YouTube tribute to Hallyday and ex-wife Sylvie Vartan, once France's It Girl.
