Birotte named U.S. Attorney

The White House just announced that Andre Birotte Jr, the inspector general of the Los Angeles Police Department, has been nominated by President Barack Obama to be the U.S. Attorney for Southern California. It was an expected move. Birotte, who is 43, graduated from Pepperdine law school and started his legal career in the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office. He also was a federal prosecutor in the Los Angeles office.
