Pretty shocking numbers in the nationwide crackdown on child prostitution, Hollywood restaurateur booked in death of fetus, new political endorsements and Anderson Cooper's ratings in the tank — plus much more after the jump.

  • Federal officials rescued 52 children and arrested nearly 700 people over the last three days in a nationwide crackdown on child prostitution; eight of the arrests and two of the children were in Southern California. LAT
  • Restaurant operator Joshua Woodward was booked for murder in connection with a miscarriage that caused the death of a 13-week-old fetus, police say. Charges will be presented to the DA today. LAPD release, KFI, Faster Times
  • William Bratton, in his final Op-Ed as chief, says the LAPD still finds illegal immigrants fearful of contact with officers and says the police should fight crime, not illegal immigration. LAT
  • Metro announced that the Gold Line extension to the East Los Angeles will open Nov. 15, but county Supervisor Gloria Molina is now upset by the project's rollout. LAT
  • Hollywood director Paul Haggis severed ties with Scientology in a letter criticizing its opposition to gay marriage, but the church says it didn't support Proposition 8. LAT
  • Former Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, adding to her collection of high-profile endorsements. Sacto Bee

  • Four teenage girls from Agoura Hills were arrested in the burglaries at the homes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and other young celebrities. LAT
  • CNN's ratings are way down, and Anderson Cooper is beaten in a key demographic by reruns of Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. LAT
  • The San Francisco Chronicle says its circulation drop of 25% was expected and the result of a deliberate change in the business model that has put the paper int he black for the first time in years. SF Chronicle
