Jewish schools, synagogues alerted *

The Los Angeles Police Department has issued an alert to all Jewish day schools and synagogues in the wake of this morning's attack in North Hollywood. The Jewish Journal has details, including the names of the victims. The Journal previously reported that there were twi gunmen, but revised its story to agree with other media and the LAPD that there was one suspect.

* Update: Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said at the scene that "none of us should presume or speculate more about this other than it was a random act of violence." A girls' school at the synagogue has canceled its classes today. Here's the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles response.
