The president of Phoenix Books in Beverly Hills was 65. He died of cancer over the weekend. Viner has published or tried to publish several controversial books, including in 2003 the memoir by disgraced ex-journalist Jayson Blair when Viner and ex-wife Deborah Raffin ran New Millenium.
