I wasn't alone in being surprised that Evan Kleiman's Angeli Caffe, a family favorite at our house, was dropped from Jonathan Gold's annual list of 99 essential restaurants. Emails and tweets ensued, and it turns out even Jonathan was caught off guard. Somebody had goofed and the first page of A's had been left off the LA Weekly's original online list (I don't know about in the print version.) So if you're keeping score at home, add Akasha, Alcazar, Angeli, Angelini, Animal and Anisette. Gold tweets here, by the way.
