Rick Wartzman, the former editor of the LAT's own West magazine, is a finalist for a Los Angeles Times Book prize in the history category for "Obscene in the Extreme: The Burning and Banning of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath." Former LAT foreign correspondent Dexter Filkins, now at the New York Times, is up in current interest for "The Forever War." Los Angeles author Nina Revoyr is nominated in mystery/thriller for "The Age of Dreaming." The winners are to be announced April 24 during the Times book festival at UCLA. Full list.
