Stench in the news — again

New York officials think they have figured out the source of the Westside maple syrup aroma that, as one writer put it back in 2006, "spread faster than warm Aunt Jemima on pancakes." It's from a plant in New Jersey that processes seeds of the herb fenugreek to produce fragrances, Mayor Bloomberg says. They shouldn't complain: our mystery Westside stench smells more like sour milk and a soggy mattress. Previous LA Observed posts:
