Back from jury duty

My duty is done for another year — such as it was. After forming a pool of 99 jurors for a 25-day trial in Dept. 107, the judge came out and told us it would now be a court trial, rather than jury trial. But it would have been a good one and we should feel bad about missing it, he said. The highlight of the morning was Phil Spector shuffling through our pool during a break in his trial across the hall.

While I was gone: Sara Catania posted at Native Intelligence about a new literary magazine, Polygon, formed by a student at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Sara met her at last night's PEN Center awards. I've also updated a couple of broken links in the Morning Buzz.
