Pete Newell, ex-Lakers GM was 93

As general manager of the Los Angeles Lakers from 1972 to 1976, Pete Newell made the trade that brought Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from the Milwaukee Bucks. Newell's mark on basketball also includes coaching Berkeley to an NCAA title in 1959 and the U.S. to an Olympic gold medal in 1960, and the annual Big Man camp that he started. LAT obituary
