Responding to last year's raid on high holiday services in Hancock Park, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa sent Building and Safety GM Andrew Adelman a letter that urges more awareness seminars for building inspectors and a "cultural diversity" program, as well as other steps. The Jewish Journal's Tom Tugend has more. Of course, the mayor has his own plans for Yom Kippur. Dropping in on an L.A. synagogue as he sometimes does? Nah, he'll be in San Antonio at a fundraiser for his reelection campaign hosted by former Clinton cabinet member (and L.A. housing player) Henry G. Cisneros and AT&T executive John T. Montford. Here's the invitation and an observation by the LAT's David Zahniser and Phil Willon.
