At noon today Eli and Edythe Broad will break ground on another local institution with their names on it: the Eli and Edythe Broad California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research, at the USC health complex on the Eastside. It's one of the results of voters passing Proposition 71 to fund stem-cell research in California. Also, the Broads will be in Massachusetts tomorrow for a "major announcement" on the future of the Broad Foundation of MIT and Harvard.
