The previous publisher of the Times, David Hiller, used to break out in song around the office (he favored pieces from musicals) and even belted out a respectable national anthem at Dodger Stadium. Now it turns out the new publisher, Eddy Hartenstein, has musical roots of his own. Los Angeles Magazine's blog The Spyglass exposes the publisher's father Tony as the city's best accordionist. "Hartenstein senior, who’s now eighty-nine years old, has been yodeling and performing 'Edelweiss' at Swiss restaurants and clubs for decades (a recent gig was for the local Swiss consulate)," says the blog. Here's the main blog url since I can't find a permalink to the post. (When I last inquired about the mag's screwy blog set-up, the reply was: "Don't ask.")
