The South L.A. activist pleaded guilty to attempting to bribe a witness in a criminal case involving his daughter, Jasmin Eskew. Ali's sentence was enhanced because of a 1992 robbery conviction and a parole violation in a 2004 case in which he was convicted of felony hit-and-run and perjury. "Najee Ali had been on the wrong side of the law pretty consistently," said Bernard Parks Jr., chief of staff for Councilman Bernard Parks. Ali, the founder of Project Islamic Hope, has been an outspoken critic of the LAPD. LAT
