You may remember my post (and photo) in April on the Gibbon Conservation Center in a wild corner of Bouquet Canyon, just beyond the Santa Clarita suburbs. Well, those suburbs are expanding ever faster and the Times has posted a story on the shrinking little rustic island inhabited by 33 lesser apes. They belt out loud screams a couple of times a day and won't make good neighbors if the homes get too close, and the soil kicked up by construction could contain a fungus that is deadly to gibbons.
