Vin Scully on John Wooden

At yesterday's unveiling of a plaque for UCLA legend John Wooden at the Coliseum, Vin Scully told a fun story about how Wooden was one of the first people he met in Los Angeles when the Dodgers came west in 1958. "I would not have missed this day for all the tea in China," Scully told Wooden.

Wooden made his first public appearance since suffering injuries in a fall earlier this year. He stayed in his wheelchair, and talked a bit about death, but he's still sharp — at 97! — and regaled the audience with stories. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Keith Erickson also had them laughing.
