There was also the indignity of getting a six-lane running track instead of the usual eight, due to space limitations. Now comes the disclosure that the running track falls ten meters short of the promised (and traditional) 400. "Surprising wasn't the word," Athletic Director Rose Low told the Times' Eric Sondheimer. "I almost passed out."
