LAT website plays up Smoking Gun claim

The report in the Smoking Gun that the Times got duped on its recent Sean Combs- Tupac Shakur story has been top of the page for hours now at LATImes.com, with a big picture of Shakur. It's admirable they aren't hiding the controversy, and that staff writer James Rainey keeps filing updates, but you have to wonder if the reports I keep hearing of mutual animosities and disdains between the online and print staffs will be fed by the website's aggressive push of the story. The news so far is that Editor Russ Stanton ordered an internal investigation of Chuck Philips' original story.
