NuWilshire to close

credit
Another theater is going dark. Landmark is leaving the NuWilshire in Santa Monica, though it seems the chain wanted to stay but was kicked out by an owner intent on developing the site. Fans and employees have been batting around the news for a couple of weeks at CinemaTreasures.org. Last day looks to be Nov. 8. The NuWilshire opened in 1931 as a single screen theater and went binary sometime along the way. We have this pic of the original movie house in Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles.
