Lynwood out of control
The city council in Lynwood refused to certify petitions for a recall election against four of its members, then replaced the city clerk who tried to follow the law. Now the sheriff has the petitions and it's all going to court. LAT
Villaraigosa close to school deal
The Times says that the mayor would get the school board to allow him to "control" some schools around Roosevelt High. LAT Plus, thumbnail bios of the incoming school board. And new board member Richard Vladovic tells the Daily Breeze "it's going to get nasty."
George Torres denied bail
The grocer accused of racketeering faces serious charges and should stay in jail, the judge says. LAT
Valley officials upset by census plans
The Census Bureau wants to stop singling out the San Fernando Valley. DN, LAT
LAPD traffic officer arrested for DUI
But Brian Gossh, who was off duty, said he doesn't drink and was cleared by a breathalyzer test. DN
