Alan Klein, president and publisher of Los Angeles magazine since 2001, is jumping to Modern Luxury Media as president and publisher of Angeleno. Los Angeles, as I understand it, just came off its best year business-wise in a long time. Release after the jump.

LOS ANGELES, – July 2, 2007 – Alan Klein, who had been the President and Publisher of Los Angeles magazine since 2001, has joined Modern Luxury Media as the President and Publisher of its Los Angeles-based magazine Angeleno and also as the company’s Group Publisher and President of its Western Division. Aside from being the publisher of Angeleno, Klein will be responsible for the growth and management of all of the company’s business in its current markets of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange Co., San Diego and Honolulu, including any business emanating from Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Western Canada and the country of Mexico.
“Alan Klein is a very accomplished publisher in the city-regional magazine business today,” stated Modern Luxury’s CEO Michael Kong. “I am thrilled to have him as a partner.” Michael Kong’s brother and co-founder Stephen Kong, who is the company’s Managing Director of National Sales and runs the New York office, echoed these sentiments: “Alan is highly regarded in the business.”
John Carroll, Modern Luxury’s Group Publisher and President in charge of its Central and Eastern Division, stated: “Alan’s history at San Francisco magazine, Boston magazine and most recently at Los Angeles absolutely speaks for itself. For 20 years, he’s been publishing beautiful magazines, and we are very enthusiastic about him leading our important Western Division.” John Carroll had been the publisher of Chicago magazine for 7 years prior to coming to Modern Luxury in 2004.
