Bomb scare in Wilshire's media gulch **

Cynthia Littleton reports on her Variety blog that the LAPD has closed off Wilshire Boulevard outside the Screen Actors Guild, meaning it's also right outside Variety, E!, KNX-KFWB and the L.A. Business Journal, among other media offices. Could be due to a suspicious briefcase left outside the Organic-to-go outlet, otherwise known as LA Observed's home away from home when I'm in the area looking for free wi-fi and an outdoor table. Police have warned Variety staffers to stay away from the windows — just in case.

* Update: Tenants in the Wilshire Courtyard building were originally told the bomb scare was at Wilshire and Ridgeley Drive, two blocks east. But now the story is that it's in front of SAG.

** Yeah, never mind: Sometimes a briefcase is just a briefcase.
