Fermo Cambianica, handicapper was 79

The race-track fixture handicapped most recently for the Long Beach Press-Telegram and other LA News Group papers. He had planned to retire yesterday, at the end of Santa Anita's season, but he died Saturday night of cancer. He had been forced to stop working three weeks ago. On Wednesday he made a final appearance at the track, where the fifth race was named for him. P-T, LAT
