Every year Joe Strupp of Editor & Publisher reports the supposedly secret list of finalists submitted by Pulitzer Prize judges. One year I beat Joe into print and felt pretty good about it, but he seems to be ahead of the pack this time — and even then he's missing some categories, including photography. His list shows the LAT placing finalists in international reporting for Iraq coverage and explanatory journalism for the Altered Oceans project. No other locals are mentioned. Winners are scheduled to be announced in New York on Monday, April 16 at noon our time.
