Alarcon elected

Assemblyman Richard Alarcon wins a seat on the City Council without a runoff, pulling 54.6% to Monica Rodriguez's 27.9%. (She was the one endorsed by all the newspapers.) Two precincts still need to be counted, but that's not going to change the conclusion that nobody cared: i count 6,762 votes in the entire 7th district. Elsewhere, all the council incumbents were reelected, of course.

For the school board, Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte trounced the mayor's man in South L.A., the mayor wins with Yolie Flores Aguilar on the Eastside, and there will be runoffs in the Valley and Harbor area districts.
