LATimes.com's new editor thinks local

ArtleyMeredith Artley, named earlier this month to be executive editor of the Times website, tells the Online Journalism Review that her focus will be on strengthening the local impact of LATimes.com. Her goal, she says, will be to make the website indispensable to Southern California readers. She detects a lot of enthusiasm at the LAT for the digital future, Artley says in an audio interview with OJR's Sandeep Junnarkar, a former colleague at the New York Times website. Artley joined the NYT website in 1995 and for the past four years has lived in Paris working on the International Herald Tribune site. She begins here in mid-March.
