Going gourmet kosher

Today's Jewish Journal of Greater L.A. surveys the trend toward high-end kosher restaurant kitchens. Shilo's and The Prime Grill get the prime attention, with a nod to Pat's, longtime anchor of the kosher restaurant zone on Pico Boulevard just below Beverly Hills. The new places are expensive and cater to a broader clientele, so Amy Klein (the magazine's religion editor) says that Los Angeles "might finally be catching up when it comes to kosher food."

Food related: Eating L.A. reviews the $6,000, pre-heated toilet at Royale, the elegant new place in the Wilshire Royale.

Also from the JJ: A BMW parked in the Beverlywood area was recently graffitied with the word 'JEW' sprayed on its side.
