FBI investigators have contacted current and former city officials in Monrovia and Fontana about Rep. Gary Miller's land sales, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported this morning. The Brea Republican, whose district includes Diamond Bar and Whittier and extends down into Orange County, came under scrutiny in August when a watchdog group alleged that Miller didn't pay capital gains tax on the sale of 165 acres to the city of Monrovia for a wildland preserve. Miller says the FBI has no reason to be investigating. Later today, the L.A. Times also posted a story on the investigation, citing the Tribune's story.
