So many bullets were fired during last year's shootout with the toddler's father that the LAPD can't determine which officer fired the shot that killed her, the Times reports chief Bill Bratton saying. "Bratton described the investigation as one of the most complex in LAPD history. It involved microscopic analysis of 250 fired bullets and casings, involving 13 firearms, and more than 80 interviews with witnesses and 36 DNA tests," the paper reports on the web. The police commission takes up the Peña issue tomorrow.
