Cemetery dispute takes deadly turn

Relatives of the deceased interred (they hope) at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale have been upset for about a year since investigators found 4,000 cremated remains — some dating to the 1930s, says the Daily News — spilled on floors and abandoned in trash bins. The grounds had also deteriorated, and authorities stepped in to forbid new burials and require the gates be open for visitors four hours week. On Saturday, embattled owner Marsha Lee Howard was found dead in her home on the cemetery grounds. The coroner's office is investigating.
