Things tense at Channel 2

Writers in the newsroom at KCBS and KCAL left their desks about 3:30 pm Wednesday and took an unscheduled break together in the courtyard before returning to their desks at 4 o'clock. While they were out there milling, management reps took photos of the participants, says a source at On the Record. Staffers at sister radio station KNX also left their desks at about the same time. Newswriters for CBS here have been working without a contract since April 2005. Negotiations apparently resumed yesterday. OTR's Ron Fineman posts:

What was the purpose of management taking pictures of those who took part in this action at KCBS/KCAL. Intimidation? Are they now on some "list?"

I will just tell you this. Management at KCBS/KCAL is not honest and they play dirty. I will also say the fact that they've gone this long without a contract and refuse to consider retroactive pay tells me that their respect for the union is quite limited. The walkout on Wednesday obviously got their attention, but to what end?
