Kid's still in the picture

creditIt was forty years ago this month that Peter Bart wrote a positive story in the New York Times about a young Hollywood producer, Robert Evans. Bart later went to work for Evans at Paramount. Much has ensued since, of course. But Bart is still Editor-in-Chief of Variety and Evans is still on the lot, while many others associated with the studio are long gone. In this coming Sunday's New York Times, Ross Johnson checks in on the 76-year-old actor-turned-producer's longevity. "It is important that Bob keeps his deal," Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone told Johnson. "Though I can’t guarantee it, I would like to think he would be at Paramount forever."
