One of LAT.com's goldfish gives it up

I haven't mentioned it much because it's frankly kind of lame, but for 111 days the Times has kept two goldfish in an aquarium supposedly living on water taken from the Los Angeles River. Website viewers could keep tabs on Goldfish Cam. When one of the fish turned up dead over the weekend, and no one could tell which, staffers held a coin flip to pick whether the ex-fish would be designated Little Antonio or Little Ed. The mayor lost (the other is named for councilman Ed Reyes), a web story from City Hall reporter Steve Hymon reports.

"A gimmick like Little Antonio is hard to find," said latimes.com executive editor Joel Sappell as he reviewed the site's traffic numbers. "We'll miss him."
