$100-million men

IraniKaratzThe Los Angeles Business Journal's annual look at compensation paid to local CEOs comes up with a new leader. Bruce Karatz, chairman and chief executive of KB Home, received $166 million in salary, stock options and cashed-in options. For straight compensation the paper gives the nod to Ray Irani (left), chairman and chief executive of Occidental Petroleum, at $87.5 million ($125 million with options sold.)

Also in the LABJ: Universal Studios Hollywood is adding Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of the theme park and making other changes to reverse a five percent decline in visitors. And LACMA is raising the rates on its art-for-rent program.
