Examining Los Angeles

There may not yet be a Los Angeles Examiner in the fledgling Philip Anschutz newspaper empire, but there is a dedicated L.A. page on Examiner.com. The website lets you choose to scan news from any of two dozen cities or a national Examiner.comnews feed. News, however, is narrowly defined and light in execution. No original content; all the stories are off the Associated Press wire, meaning that for Los Angeles the local coverage is spotty and hours (even sometimes days) old. The only links to actual Anschutz papers are on the pages for San Francisco and Washington, cities that already have print Examiners. The only other association with the chain comes on the Contact Us page. Last month Anschutz's people registered LosAngelesExaminer.com, but they are not using it.
