New York Times

Tomorrow's correction today

That weekend story on Watts in the NYT mentioned several nearby places where residents are moving. One of them, "Marina County," raised an eyebrow since there is no such place. Almost certainly the writer meant Moreno Valley, the Inland Empire exurb where affordable housing has long attracted African Americans from the city (20% of the population was black in the 2000 census.) Brady Westwater agrees and questions other facts in the story.
