The Los Angeles-based website Violinist.com covered a pretty cool event this weekend. Every member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra was left homeless by Hurricane Katrina and the later submersion of New Orleans. Most lost everything, the season was cancelled and the orchestra's financial survival is in doubt. But on Friday night, they got to play Lincoln Center with the New York Philharmonic. Beverly Sills, Audra McDonald, Wynton Marsalis and Randy Newman were among those on stage to help raise more than $300,000 to save the New Orleans orchestra. LPO members are currently scattered in Florida, Delaware, Seattle, Illinois, California, Montana and Japan.
