Mayor Villaraigosa's new police commission today chose John Mack to be president of the panel that oversees Chief Bratton and the LAPD. He was president of the Los Angeles Urban League for 36 years until retiring recently. Mack has been an outspoken critic of certain LAPD shootings in the past, and replaces shopping center developer Rick Caruso (The Grove) in the high profile commission post.
